ARGUMENTS: DALE CARNEGIE

“After many years of listening, engaging in, and watching the effect of thousands of arguments, I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way under the high heaven to get the best of an argument – and that is to avoid it. Avoid it as you would avoid rattle snakes and earthquakes.”

Nine out of ten arguments end with each of the contestants more firmly convinced than ever that he is absolutely right.

You can’t win an argument.

You can’t - because if you lose it, you lose it. And if you win it, you lose it.

Why? You have made the other person feel inferior. You have hurt his pride. He will resent your triumph and a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. You must always choose kindness over being right, most of the time.

Be wiser than other people if you can - But do not tell them so.

Discussions are always better than arguments, because an argument is to find out who is right, and a discussion is to find out what is right.

I’m at that stage of my life where I keep myself out of arguments, even if you tell me 1+1=5 you’re absolutely correct, enjoy!

Geniet die naweek.
